I have lived in Durham for the last 37 years but was born and bred in Wakefield where I fished mostly stillwaters, Newmiller Dam, the Half Moon etc, with the
occasional pub (Britannia, in Warrengate, Wakefield) angling club trip to the Swale Wharfe etc. I also supported the then MIGHTY Wakefield Trinity. Since
moving to Durham I have fished the Wear almost exclusively for chub, and in the last 20 years for its barbel. In the 70s and early 80s I also fished the Tweed
for its big roach and dace, now sadly just a memory for many North Eastern anglers. Also in the mid to late 70's I fished the Loch's of S/W Scotland
for Bream. PBs Chub 6-01 Gt Ouse. Bream 9-14 Loch Maben. Tench 6-02 Tindales pond. Barbel 10-12. Roach 3-04. Dace 1-03. All from R Wear, Durham. Never had ANY
interest in carp or pike fishing, although had pike to 14lb on meat when chubbing one evening on the Wear.
Currently Membership Secretary of Durham City Angling Club and Secretary of The Chub Study Group, a finer bunch of lads you could not wish to meet.
